Hehe, that's what I thought aswell, but after watching it again I noticed that he was just saying "he checks to see if he's got it", as in, checks his two cards to see he definitely has it

Re: Some entertaining hands

in the actual broadcast, after the first hand with jennifer harman, she gives out to him for slowrolling after she put him all in, and because he said "i guess i can do a lot of sightseeing if i lose this", whilst calling with the nuts

Re: Some entertaining hands

I didn't know that's what he said, I thought he was just delaying and taking time to loosen the tension of the hand.

Re: Some entertaining hands

It does pose the question what would you need to have to risk everything on the first hand in such a big buy in tournament, I guess the buy in meant less to him but who who wants to be first out at the WSOP! On the first day i'd want to just sit there and soak it in. Forget playing anything other than AA and KK you have plenty of chips and the blinds are tiny not worth getting yourself in a hole so early like he did.

Re: Some entertaining hands

dunno bout that. the early stages of these tournaments are all about chip accumulation. The only hands that are beating him here are AA and A10. He had to think he was a monster favourite here so would anyone else here have been able to get away from it? Even if he raises a small amount Farha is still gonna put him in which he could be doing with any A. No way am I folding

Re: Some entertaining hands

It all happens very quickly. The Q gives Farha more options of beating him. I don't think he liked seeing that Q even though the damage was already done. If the action happened on the flop, I don't think I would be so quick to act, but I think I probably would put it all in. Hard to tell though.

Re: Some entertaining hands

Look at it from Sammys perspective...what would he be playing with that would be behind 10 10 10 A A?

Hard to get away from, but not impossible.

Re: Some entertaining hands

It was the worst possible flop for him it would be interesting to see what he would do if he got AT pre-flop first hand the next year!! I bet he'd muck it quick as anything!!

In the early stages of a tournament I feel its best to try not get too into pots unless you have the stone cold nuts its best just to let the fish bust themselves out. Obviously he was playing someone who knew what he was doing but I still think so early its just not worth the risk. Doubling up first hand of such a long tournament hardly makes a difference in the long run. Best just try steal a few pots here and there and dodge the big pots while the crazy people are playing crazy hands. Does anyone know if he is a decent player or is he just someone with money?

Farha loves to gamble and plays a LOT of dodgy starting hands, so he could easily be behind, he could have played KJ, both checked the flop, and hit the straight on the turn for example

Re: Some entertaining hands

I love to watch Farha play, since I first saw him heads up with Moneymaker in the 2004 WSOP I loved his style, even the way he looks, has that authentic poker player vibe. Watching him in high stakes poker, he has been lucky a number of times, but he makes great reads and bluffs alike. I would and I wouldn't love to play with him
